And it’s no coincidence that he chose Lenin’s birthday for Earth Day, either.

The ultimate was of course the Holodomore in Ukraine. Ten million people were starved to death.

“By the year 2000, if present trends continue, we will be using up crude oil at such a rate… that there won’t be any more crude oil. You’ll drive up to the pump and say, ‘Fill ‘er up, buddy,’ and he’ll say, ‘I am very sorry, there isn’t any.'” — Ecologist Kenneth Watt

I took a class from Ken Watt in grad school, aprox 1976.

He was, and likely still is, a remarkably self-assured idiot.

One of his recurring themes was that goods will always be over produced, long after the market is saturated. His favorite example was airliners. He said, over and over, (paraphrasing) that Boeing was building airliners too fast, and that the market will soon reach a point at which they won'be be able to sell any more airplanes.

Most of us knew he was a crackpot, but we knew how to answer questions on his exams to our benefit.

I remember reading a book about the third winter, which claimed that because of snow reflecting away the light 3 bad winters in a row would trigger a new ice age. The cover showed a group of people walking through a city with snow covering all but the tips of skyscrapers.

So the author was suggesting that the world has never experienced three bad winters in a row over the last 10,000 years since the prior ice age? Somehow I suspect that's not quite so.

It was a long time ago but it probably had more to do with man made emissions trapping the snow than 3 bad winters. With books like that it was always man’s fault.

They got that from the Fimbulwinter, which is part of the Viking Eddic Prose. It is immediately followed by Ragnorok. So what supposedly ecologically conscious country from the 20th Century was also into Norse paganism?

Venezuela could likely be added as well. Farming operations in N Korea would likely improve if they follow the South’s example.

It just amazes me how we let our millinneals be educated into believing communism/socialism is the best thing since sliced bread, when in fact it’s one of the most vicious types of regimes towards it’s own people possible and well proven by history and current examples.
