If it went full tilt boogie, we’d be in deep yogurt for a while.

You ask what they teach in journalism school? They teach identity politics of course.

Just did a youtube search and found a BBC documentary on Yellowstone.Don't know if it's the same one I recall but it looks interesting. You've gotta admit the the BBC does a good job on comedies and documentaries.

Yellowstone Caldera

I didn’t say it was going to erupt just that it is active....

If the Long Valley Caldera blows it will ruin the skiing.

Wow, the extensive list of what to worry about is repeated every day and added to. Not sure what should take my priority for terror anymore. Maybe we are all going to endure a massive world wide cataclysm of volcanism which will spread the virus even more and then a gigantic 800 mile wide asteroid will hit us as a final coup de grâce !

Good Lord...not worried about maybe months of impact; not worried about a year of impact or multiple years; not worried about a decade or decades of impact. Nope, let’s go straight to CENTURIES of impact.

Certifiable loon.

What do they teach in journalism school nowadays???

It's not just, "nowadays"...I recall in the early 1970's when I was living in student housing and was struggling through a B.S. program at a school of mines on the GI Bill, my neighbor's dad bought a 5-bedroom house and the daughter lived there and rented rooms to students.
For a couple of years she rented to 4 or 5 journalism students, or J-students.
They were ALL the laziest, dumbest kids in the university. Their big goal was to get through university without ever completing a science or math course, and to arrange their class schedules so they did not have a class on a Friday. Three day weekends were the goal!

These kids were a total waste of space and I'm always reminded of them whenever I see one of these "journalists" yapping away about some subject that actually requires a bit of knowledge or study.

If the Yellowstone Caldera explodes 85% of Americans would die. I believe this will happen right after the Rapture.

And, volcanism is relatively “recent” in the Long Valley complex. Ash-flow tuffs dated at around 800k yrs ago.

If I remember correctly I was that sun spots were not as prevalent as usual. I wonder if the seismic activity around the world is related to that.

What people do not realize is that caldera has the third largest eruption in N America and most likely the 5th or 6th in the worlds history.

Mono lake erupted somewhere between the mid 1700s and 1800s.

They have also discovered that it has a vast amount of magma within its chamber-way more that they thought beforehand-240 cubic miles of it.

Neither of these, Yellowstone, or Long Valley indicate a super volcanic eruption at this time. But, both of them have had, and will have smaller eruptions that can happen at any time. The question is, how many vents would open up-if any than more than one, causing the system to become unzipped. That happens and we have a super volcanic eruption.

Its been active throughout its life. So is Long Valley, so is Mount Shasta, So is Mount St Helens. So is the San Francisco peaks system at Flagstaff AZ.

There are some 160 or so volcanos in the USA. Most are dormant which means they are “at ready” to become active and all have some levels of volcanic activity-earthquakes, fumaroles, hot springs, etc.
