New York City schools won’t be re-opened until it’s safe to do so — but that doesn’t mean they’ll remain closed until the fall, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said Sunday.
Amid a feud with Mayor Bill de Blasio over public access to schools during the coronavirus crisis, Cuomo said they would stay shuttered for the time being.
“We’re not going to open any school till it is safe from a public-health point of view,” he said during a news conference in Albany.
“Whatever plan we come up with will be driven by data and science.”
But Cuomo pointedly rejected de Blasio’s Saturday announcement that the city’s schools wouldn’t re-open before September, saying, “Nobody knows what we will be doing in June.”
“If you say schools will be closed in June, you’re effectively saying businesses will be closed in June,” Cuomo said. “June is a long way away.”

I hate cuomo but LOVE that he shot down that kraut big bird bum.
We’d be a lot better off if they left the gov schools (indoctrination centers) closed for maybe a couple years or more. Maybe forever.
I am puzzled by this. What is Como’s play here? The rats have been pushing to make this as bad as possible so why is he going off script?

Let’s say that by June 1 it is very safe for kids to go to school.
Then why is there any reason not to hold classes in June and July to make up for the days lost in March, April, and May?
I’ll bet many seniors would be happy to go back in June and July to finish off their last year. I’m pretty sure my grandson would be the first to volunteer. He’s missing school and his classmates big time.
A-hole is just pivoting and triangulating. Politics and FedGuv dollars are at stake.
