Pop-Up Food Pantry in California Draws Mile-Long Line of Cars During Coronavirus Pandemic

A pop-up food pantry in Southern California drew so many people on Thursday that the line of cars of people clamoring for groceries spanned a mile, as organizers, who were equipped to provide food to 2,500 families, distributed the goods.

Hundreds of people showed up to gather goods from a pop-up food pantry in Southern California resulting in a “blocks-long queue in Van Nuys, in the central San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles,” Reuters reported
============

The pop-up pantry, which came as millions across the nation continue to face economic hardships caused by the coronavirus, was available to anyone in need.

“This food saves me money because my little income goes to my rent,” said Daniel Jimenez, an independent contractor for golf tournaments, according to Reuters.

He added that he has not worked in three weeks and still does not know when he will be able to go back to work.
============
According to the Los Angeles Times, the LA Regional Food bank has experienced a “49% increase in food distributed for each of the last two weeks compared with last year” and set a food distribution record in March.

The news comes as the economy remains at a virtual standstill, with the majority of the country functioning under a stay-at-home order, varying from locality to locality and state to state. Roughly 17 million Americans have filed for unemployment in the last three three weeks as President Trump begins to shift his focus to the grand reopening of the economy

The sheer insanity. A deliberate man made disaster that has put millions of Americans out of work and straight onto the poverty line,
And all for what?
Meanwhile that little gnome Fauci, the architect of this calamity, continues to keep his job and a super comfrtable life with his usual three squares a day despite the sheer magnitude of the destruction he has wrought, even as he preens about and suggests that Brad Pitt play his character in any upcoming movie about coronavirus.
Is this guy even for real?

And the funny thing is, there is very little evidence that the quarantine actually worked in Italy. When they did a blood donation drive in one town in Lombardi recently, 40 out of the 60 people who turned up to give blood, had coronavirus.
Which was strange because the people in that town had been under the toughest quarantine regimen for close to 4 weeks.

Why aren’t people more prepared. It is embarrassing to see Americans lining up. Then again, how many are illegals?

Wonder how far away we are from the democrat governors shutting down all private grocery sales and taking control of all food distribution?

Can’t speak to this one, but on Friday afternoons, the food bank next to my workplace, in Southern California would be patronized by folks that all drove nicer cars than I did, weighed a lot more than I did, and never uttered a word of English.

“Why aren’t people more prepared. It is embarrassing to see Americans lining up.”

You have to start wondering if these are planned and coordinated by the Rats. There’s nothing that they would like to see more than endless soup lines all over the country.

The people who are driving this farce have no idea what the working stiff is facing, and undoubtedly don’t care.

Who thinks up these names? I have never heard of a "A pop-up food pantry" until this moment.   I cannot imagine what it even is.   Especially not why it should have a mile long line of cars.   Are they really that touched in the head in California?

Well, I lived a couple of years in Sacramento forty five years ago, to answer my own question, but I cannot remember anything like this.

Good time if you owned a couple of ‘roach coaches’ to team up with restaurants and cruise the neighborhoods and eventually set up at certain times....

Oh, I think they DO know ‘what they have wrought’, a crazy idea-possibly to do PDJT some ‘harm’- that got out of hand with the help of MSM and possibly some devious ‘consultants’ who more than likely basically mean well- but- are scientists are wont to do is overstate their case going with the worst case scenario and it just fueled the panic that had already started.

Isn’t it amazing how many people use our republic for a free ride. Wonder when it will stop?

They use the wages of modern working man or woman as their meal ticket while government uses the force of law through taxes to take hard earned money to give to those who are undeserving. THIS ACTION IS MODERN DAY SLAVERY!

Why aren’t people more prepared.

One in four Americans do not have enough money saved to cover more than two months of expenses, according to a recent poll.

And another one in four don’t actually have a dedicated saving account at all — but, despite this, 85% of those surveyed recognize that a consistent approach to savings is important in order to reach their savings goals

People in CA lining up for free stuff? I just do not believe it. I would like to count the numbers of vehicles over $50K in the parking area.

demonstrating with clarity the “solution” is destroying as many lives as it THINKS it is saving, though “models” are not factual proof of that.

Here in flyover country, this past week my friend volunteered to direct traffic at a food distribution site that normally gets 500 carfulls of people during normal times on one of their distribution days. This last time they got almost 4000.
