The biggest wish of the media at this point is to have Trump acting in an antagonistic way either towards Birx and Fauci personally or to in any way discredit what they have to say.The press wants Trump to abdicate his authority in favor of the 2 medical experts because they feel they are strongly in favor of keeping us shut down, which in turn further hurts the economy and therefore helps the Democrats

They would then leap and blast him for ignoring the “experts” in favor of what his “friends” in the business world as well as he want.

Trumps introduction of a task force to examine the best ways to open the economy back up is a major move towards doing just that. Another good move by the President is his expressing great confidence and appreciation for both Brix and Fauci while at the same time mentioning he will be including many other experts from all areas in his decision on opening the economy. By doing this he has signaled to the media and to Fauci and Birx that they will be only 2 of many voices Trump will hear before making his decision.

I believe Trump knows exactly what he is up against and knows what he has to do. It is not because I support the president that I say this but I have followed him closely and he is light years ahead of the Democrats and the media and with few exceptions (non of which come to mind) he has handled them brilliantly. This mans biggest asset is his complete fearlessness in dealing with his enemies.

Really good analysis...I can’t add anything to this as I agree with your words here.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts which I agree with for the most part.

I was not suggesting that Trump ignore the ‘experts’ or belittle/antagonize them. They certainly have their place in helping to manage this problem. But I emphasize the word ‘place’. They have become way too expansive in expressing opinions about things that are beyond their purview. They are also getting way too much face time.

The format of these daily pressers is partly responsible for that. They are way too long and often lack focus as the media is permitted to ask all manner of completely irrelevant questiosn.

This forum is too important to allow it to morph into a general press conference. Lots of Trump supporters I know agree and are simply tired of the digressions, especially the combative political ones.

Pence is the task force leader and should be managing the briefings in my opinion, with brief appearances by the president (e.g., anything less than one hour would be a welcome improvement).

The briefings give the impression that Trump is a micromanager pouring over every detail. I would liketo see some constructive format changes to the daily briefings to make them shorter and more focused. JMHO.
