If she is a woman, she does not have a wife. She can't have a wife. The mate or other half of the wife is the husband. This has been so since the beginning of time and continues up to today. Every culture, every civilization, not only Jews and Christians have observed the pairing of males and females with some sort of a ceremony to establish what was recognized as a marriage. The word smiths and practitioners of political correctness will never change that. A male and female become a couple. Two males or two females become a pair.
