Coronavirus Deaths Will Be 'Much, Much, Much Lower' Than Predicted Models, Says Head of CDC

In the ever-changing contradictory nature of information during the pandemic age, the head of the CDC, Robert Redfield, told listeners of Arizona's 1030 KVOI radio he believes there's good news ahead. Redfield said the death toll from the Chinese COVID-19 will be "much, much, much lower" than the models have predicted. “If we just social distance, we will see this virus and this outbreak basically decline, decline, decline. And I think that's what you're seeing,” he said.

The models the White House is using projected the deaths of between 100,000 and 240,000 Americans. Redfield says models aren't the end of the story. "Models are only as good as their assumptions, obviously there are a lot of unknowns about the virus,” he said. “A model should never be used to assume that we have a number.”

He continued to praise the American people for taking the social distancing seriously, saying, "I think that's the direct consequence of why you're seeing the numbers are going to be much, much, much lower than would have been predicted by the models."

Redfield has vociferously approved of the social distancing measures taken by the federal and local governments.

Let’s be real. Fauci created his own little curve to promote his agenda which is to get a VERY EXPENSIVE new drug approved....patent and all. He doesn’t give a damn about people. You’re just a number...an anecdote....meaningless host.

The same CDC that couldn’t make the simple correlation between wholesale, uncomditional immigration and disease????

I mean, seriously... at what point to we accept anything they say?

No you are stuck with the 2 million death number even if it was never a CDC number. And regardless of what actions you take, the lower numbers are proof we should have never social distanced in the first place. /flubro mode off.

Latest projections from University of Washington’s modeling has total US deaths at 60,415. This is a huge decrease from 80,000 plus yesterday.

Give it time and it will eventually get to a number that is less than the flu. Bank on it.

WE knew that. I am not even convinced this is Doom Week.

All the equipment and materials are being gathered by the truckload, but their use for this virus seems unlikely.

How do you explain Sweden, which didn’t shut everything down and has about the same per capita numbers?

Shocking. GIGO rules. Computer models are garbage, but people focus on what looks like an incredibly precise number generated by the models. It’s completely a hypothetical number, but people have a tendency to think a computer model is “correct” because they think computers are somehow “smarter” than people.

I am, deaths lag hospitalizations. Good news is that hospitalizations is in decline so deaths should peak this week or next.

It’s only Doom Week, because the Hospital Admins are insisting, thanks Birx, that doctors log ALL “ suspicious “ and those who die WITH WuFlu, in that column ~

UP the number, so this almost looks like we shoulda shut down the ENTIRE US

And we get $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for WuFlu cases

Sweden has the lowest population density in Europe.
So they already are socially distant.

They also now have either the highest case count or the highest death count per person of any of the 4 Scandanavian countries. Saw a graph this morning, not sure where.

Their parliament is about to pass emergency lock down measures, but they are going to leave it up to the PM to decide when and if to implement.

If I combine the climate change models with the COVID models I’m wondering - how the heck are we still here?

The statistical abuse during this corona mess has just been appalling.

And people in positions of power, where these projections are used to direct government policy, have a huge responsibility to get it right and NOT unnecessarily scare the public. If they’re unsure of their projections, they should always state that up front.

We got none of that here. We got models that used wrong numerology, irresponsible extrapolations, no warnings that the datasets were highly incomplete, and lots of scare tactics. How many people were needlessly scared out of their wits, including seniors, kids, and the vulnerable?

After this is all settled, there has got to be some kind of accountability for the people who predicted wrecklessly.

So then, it would have been wiser to lock down and isolate higher density areas in the United States, like New York City which accounts for half the country’s cases, than shut down the whole country. Then implement more reasonable measures to slow infections elsewhere rather than destroy the economy, instead of locking down Peoria.

Oh, I forget you’re a bitter clinger. Covid Über Alles.

This is all about the public health bureaucracy playing CYA over the fact that they scroooooood the pooch badly on this.

You won’t be calling for their heads if you’re cheering them as heroes.

Don’t know how many D.C. bureaucrats you’ve ever known, but believe me, they eat, sleep, breathe, exist in this thought pattern 24/7/365.
