Ohio state Rep. Tavia Galonski (D) said that she will make a "referral for crimes against humanity" over President Trump's promotion of the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for novel coronavirus, despite its unproven benefits and lack of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval.
"I can't take it anymore. I've been to The Hague. I'm making a referral for crimes against humanity tomorrow," Galonski tweeted late Sunday.
"Today's press conference was the last straw," Galonski added. "I know the need for a prosecution referral when I see one."
Trump has repeatedly promoted hydroxychloroquine, which is approved to treat conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus, as a potential treatment for the virus, which the FDA said last week has led to a shortage of the drug.
At a press briefing late Sunday, the president recommended the drug despite limited evidence of its efficacy in treating the virus, saying "What do you have to lose? I'm not looking at it one way or another. But we want to get out of this. If it does work, it would be a shame if we didn't do it early."
National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci has reportedly been at odds with White House trade adviser Peter Navarro about promoting the drug, and said Sunday that its benefits remain largely unknown.
"The data are really just at best suggestive. There have been cases that show there may be an effect, and there are others to show there's no effect," Fauci said on CBS's "Face the Nation." "So I think in terms of science, I don't think we could definitively say it works."

I do believe these years will be looked at as the “Era of The Dumb B”.
Proven in lay words and in science does not mean the same thing. The latter means years of R&D then non-human testing then human trials then going for full approval from FDA. It is not a hurry and get it done process.
Sometimes even before going through all that there is enough evidence scientific and otherwise to logically believe the drug has promise for the use it has not yet been formally approved for. In this case it is not current anecdotal evidence but the history of its use against MERS and SARS.
She roll that into the Impeachment for not starting to fight the Wuhan Virus last May. That will lose them a few more seats.
I am glad you posted that follow up comment. That is exactly how government leaders and those in the working groups below the leadership works in these issues. I hope others appreciate your posts as the level of outrage at the doctors by some on this board has been over the top.
errata “ In this case it is not current anecdotal “ Should read “In this case it is not JUST current anecdotal..”
Confirms some of the mental imagery.
Leftists have always been more dangerous than any plague or war. They've killed far more than both combined.

It is not him that they are angry at. It is us.They are directing their anger of us to him.A prudent individual will heed the warning and prepare. The Jews in Germany learned the hard way that Hitler meant every word he said,
Tavia is a leftwing radical trying to pass
It's nothing more than the endless resistance of anything Trump says at work here.
Talk to the Blacks . None of that happened. The Democrats are the Party of the people and poor. The Republicans re evil.
Treason in wartime. Get the rope.
Of course for her a Skycrane would be needed.
These cows are always so delirious with pleasure once they win election.
Surely, stupidity of the level displayed by this state representative must be a “crime against humanity” too.
