A good time for some SCOTUS entertainment. Everyone’s home. The surest way to make it happen is for Thomas or one of the older conservatives calls its a career.

Thomas and Alito are both fairly old. As much as I love Justice Thomas, it would be a good thing if he were to step down and let Trump appoint his successor now just in case. Alito is almost 70 so he could retire too.

I think this might have to wait until 2021. Schumer and Pelosi will be in front of every press microphone with a double slam of "Meany Mitchie McConnell wouldn't let us stack the court in 2016, same rules now" and "President Trump has to do more to manage the Coronavirus, and hasn't got time to do anything else".

The worst part is that this will get plenty of air time on the DNC Lame Stream Media. Heck, they're not even showing the daily briefings anymore, so they have more than enough time on their nightly propaganda pronouncements to fit this in.

I agree with you, and so does Justice Thomas. He has openly spoken of "extending his legacy" by retiring so President Trump can nominate a younger Constitutionalist to take his seat. But as Ratman0823 points out, this now must wait until the upcoming election strengthens the president's hand in the Senate.
