Like I said about McMurtry ... he's a two-faced, manipulative lawyer who should be ineligible to serve in public office.

You can complain about Massie all you want, but replacing an MIT engineer with another @sshole with a law degree will be a huge step back for this country.

If you want to replace Massie, go find a truck driver or gun store owner to run against him ... then I might consider supporting him.

Sounds about right given his latest show vote. And how about keeping those incumbents in at a 97% clip! Talk about a winning formula. If any Massie supporter is getting a COVID check why not give him a piece, talk about irony!

So then McMurtry is from the “spend like a drunken sailor” wing of the Republican party and Massie is from the fiscally conservative wing of the Republican Party, assuming there is such a wing and its not just one individual. That makes the choice pretty clear.

Massie is a constitutionalist NOT part of the swamp. Writer needs to know the difference.

I think when Trump is not under so much pressure he might just re-think his stance on Massie.

You are exactly right.
Some swamp creatures seize upon an excellent ideological position that they then use as a shield to cover the actual aims & effects of their actions. Massie is one such denizen. He parrots the language than many principled people want to hear and they are so roused by hearing their own position they fail to notice they are being conned by someone who hold them & Americans in contempt, takes them for fools.

I agree with that. His latest stunt was ill-advised and poorly played all around -- by Massie, by President Trump, and by the GOP overall.

No wish to fight this one to the bitter end. I believe what I wrote.
I look at results of Massie’s stands and I see a man who used principle as a way to gain a following. He exercised that principle where he was the only one against a bill many times. The bill went through and he got his grandstanding in.
Massie voted against all kinds of bills that were imperfect efforts but were the best that could be achieved by compromise. If everyone refused to compromise the Country would be in chaos. Massie is not meant to be a legislator. He does not have the necessary skills.
It is exhilarating to see someone take a stand and say things that one has felt but it is more germane for someone to work with the rest of the house and win some people over, educate, suggest a better way rather than just acting as though you were too principled to involve yourself. IMO Massie looks for issues where he can stand out from the crowd to burnish his brand and he makes those a cause célèbre rather than concentrating on solutions. Almost like his self appointed role is to be umpire. Massie is nothing like Rand Paul who has worked very hard for our Nation. Even when I sometimes disagree with his take he adds value.

I don't disagree with most of what you've posted here. For the life of me, I don't understand what people see in a legislator when they elect someone who may be principled as all heck but never delivers on anything.

Massie is a lot like Roy Moore in that respect. They are pretty useless on their own and would be better suited in roles where they could be executives or judges.

I’m in Massie’s 4th CD, I’ll vote for him again. Tell me why a congressman needs to deliver bills. Massie is doing exacting what I want, stop passing laws. We have enough laws on the books overlapping many issues and grievances. Congress should only be in session 3-4 weeks a year, then shut Congress down unless the POTUS calls them into session.

McMurtry is an ambulance chaser. Sandmann family signed w McMurtry but they had Lin Wood step in to lead the lawsuits.

McMurtry wants to sit at the trough and double his net worth every 3-5 years like most in Congress. Massie is a ready made millionaire, MIT grad, businessman and family man.

I understand exactly what you're saying, but your post kind of makes my point.

Has Massie been successful in stopping any bills from getting passed? Has he convinced anyone else that Congress should only be in session 3-4 weeks a year?

OTOH, I'll take Massie over McMurtry any day of the week.
