She is a “Fairly” “Conservative” GOPe Governor w/ a minor RINO “Stripe”. Scan on 1 to 10 1 being FULL GOPe/RINO and 10 being Reagan/Trump she is a 5.25

Governor Reynolds is a Republican. Keep in mind that Iowa has a large agricultural sector and there is less need for interaction. Much of Iowa is also involved in the transportation industry, which is going full steam at this time.

I hope she hangs tough. It is ridiculous to treat a rural town in Iowa with no case within 200 miles the same as Sal’s deli on 5th avenue in NY.

My comments will not be popular but it needs to be made. This mass containment policy is ultimately unsustainable. Containment only prolongs the inevitable and the longer imposed will bring economic ruin. Eventually governments will have to relax quarantine rules in order to prevent social unrest. Once the rules are relaxed the virus will come roaring back.

In Washington state, out of all the testing conducted, only 7% have been positive. Most people are suffering from seasonal flu, cold, or media induced panic. I'm not saying this virus is harmless but the measures imposed cannot continue indefinitely.

What can we do?

Isolate only those in the at risk community. Continue social distancing practices and adopt a mandatory face mask policy. Maintain widespread testing for infected individuals, mandatory quarantining, and rigorous contact tracing. All attempts should be made to slow the spread as the warmer months of summer arrive.

Hopefully summer will see a drop in seasonal flu and the complications that it brings. Once antigen testing arrives health departments can identify those who have already been infected and are no longer at risk. A treatment protocol must be found that brings the CFR into a more acceptable range.

For those who believe this lockdown can continue indefinitely your living in a dream world. Governments can't continue to generate revenue out of thin air without a fiscal backlash. Hyper inflation, massive depression, or a civil war are possible. Already Italy is beginning to face social unrest as people become desperate to work and feed their families.

The future will demand that tough choices be made. Whatever decision is made should be based on reason and not emotion. Failure to act will guarantee a response out of desperation that will make things far worse.

Wonderfully and articulately said. I pray more people in our government begin to see this point of view.

Its common sense. But common sense fell out of popularity a long time ago for many.

I think your viewpoint is shared by more then you think, maybe a majority. Up to now the medical considerations have run the table but businesses are dying by the thousands that must stop or we lose our country.

What do you mean unpopular?

I think your thoughts reflect the majority of Freepers.

We’ve been overrun by a number of doomsayers who are screaming FIRE! at the top of their lungs, making it seem like everyone is in agreement.

The crazy’s here have taken over.

I have a deep feeling that we have already lost our country, the fact that more than half the people on this site are in a fetal position praising the complete shut down of America makes me believe we are pretty much done already!!!

You said it yourself ... "containment prolongs" .. it prolongs until respirators and proper medical equipment become available. It prolongs while the virus evolves into something less dangerous. It allows many patients to receive treatment to clear out hospital beds for future patients.

And, yes, it cannot be sustained indefinitely, but it might be able to be sustained long enough...

“In Washington state, out of all the testing conducted, only 7% have been positive.”

That’s a meaningless statistic because they can still come down with the virus
