Ten bucks says that there's a pre-existing condition involved...perhaps undetected....perhaps undisclosed.

I wonder if the scientific community can publish these details of Jersey's cases? You have such a mixture of immigrants in North/Central Jersey that analyzing the stats would add to our understanding of the genetics and epigenetics involved.

A doc I know said to me that one is more likely to die from mistakes made in hospitals than from the disease itself! Did that ever make me redouble my efforts to eat healthier and exercise more!

This type of breathless reporting, even if inaccurate or incomplete as many such (and admittedly very sad) incidents are, is going to increase dramatically over the next few weeks as the panic pornmongers see the severity and frequency of this Chinese Flu begin to decline and as the novelty of “voluntary house arrest” wears thin as Spring’s gorgeous weather arrives across the country. It’s a sure bet.

It seems to me that flu in general is kind of like a strong wind in the night. The next morning you go out and find a bunch of broken dead limbs in the yard and one or two healthy limbs. You don’t know exactly why the healthy ones fell, but you do know that it had something to do with the angle of their growth and the direction of the wind.

“Nope, not with regularity.”

Yes. With regularity in context with this epidemic.

It’s a big country, lot of people.

I remember how shocked we all were when the father of a 2nd grade classmate of my daughter died out of the blue.

In NJ there have been a total of 52,612 COVID19 tests.
22,225 positive 42.2%
30,387 negative 57.8%

as of March 24th, the positives were only 27%, so its likely the last few days have been over 50% positive.

In New Jersey, 40 percent of tests are positive.

I heard today that it is staying at that level.

I read this story some place else, and it said that on Saturday night the man was sweating profusely and said he was scared. Then by 6 am the next morning, he was dead. Why didn’t his wife call the doctor or the hospital Saturday night when the man was obviously having a problem? This is kind of weird.

This new disease appears to be unpredictable and hospitals are challenged to evaluate who should be hospitalized at what point.

What’s wrong to intimate that he may have had a pre-existing condition? It’s part of the science of epidemiology. This is how the medical community will learn from this very-new disease that as of today, they are still trying to figure out.
