2.) How is the “war status” of a huge fighting ship, which is accompanied by an entire carrier GROUP while at sea, to be stated in a leaked document. The Carrier group is not docked with the Roosevelt, but MUST be in proximity/protection of the carrier, with it no matter where it is (AEGIS shield,conventional naval guns, and more, and missile firepower). Are flight operations no longer possible while publicly docked in Guam? Air cover 24/7? This captain has put the entire group in vulnerability. Though in some ways, he has put his career behind the lives of his sailors— so there is that.
There is also a couple of subs with the group. AO’s, destroyers, frigates, and in my day, cruisers, too. It’s never just “the carrier” - it’s a HUGE group.
Reminds me of the old “Loose lips, sink ships!” from WWII (before my time), but we still had OPSEC orders, etc.

Try reading the post before yours. I spent 25 years writing, chopping and signing Navy letters and messages. There’s so much wrong with this one, it’s hard to know where to start. Navy ships are REQUIRED by Navy regulations to serialize letters, and that only happens in the ship’s office. Why doesn’t this letter have any serial number?
A CVBG has a Flag Officer and his staff attached - any correspondence destined to the FO’s superiors would require his endorsement - why is it missing?
I’ve known, worked for, and have been a Navy CO - none would start an official letter with ‘BLUF’. That’s plain absurd.

In my day, the information about ship’s movement was typically classified “confidential” the lowest of the confidentiality levels. In special cases it could be “secret”. In the case where the mission is in jeopardy, it should certainly be “secret”. It’s illegal to disseminate “confidential” information unless authorized to do it. I believe it’s a courts martial offense if the info is “secret”
An enlisted would go to Captain’s Mast in the first case, Courts Martial in the second case. A Senior Office - depends on the Captain. My guess is the Captain let this info be leaked, so then the Task Group Commander (a two star Admiral) would have to make the call. I doubt there will be any repercussions in the PC world of today.
What I would do - deploy the surge Carrier and order the TR back to home port at flank speed in order to salvage the mission. Relieve the CO for going outside the chain of command and jeopardizing the mission by publicizing the matter. He also merits an early retirement and a reprimand in his file.
His hopes of being an Admiral some day (all CV COs are candidates for Admiral) should be dashed. Tango Sierra, Sailor. - what I would do.
Not having any military background, I’d just guess they could land on that flight deck; how big a plane is the question. But they could easily do multiple flights of the meds. Our military can do anything.
That’s the only thing I can think of is resources to set up a field hospital
