Some people can drink a case a day for 40 years and their livers are pristine. Some can drink a 6 pack a day for a few years and pickle their livers completely. There is a huge genetic component to cirrhosis. A case for the bloke and a case for the shiela with non-cirrhotic genes is not unrealistic. Their BP will be off the charts, short term memory shot and other health problems of course, but with the right genes their livers could be pristine.
