From what I am reading, being on a ventilator means essentially game over. One study said that 31 out of 32 patients on a ventilator due to the virus died. Some patients were on the ventilator for weeks.
Yes if you are on a ventilator its about 15%-20% survival rate from Ive seen overall..
Lack of adequate oxygenation eventually causes organ or systemic failure
I know it sounds cold, but unless we get the survival rate up after intubation one has to start to question whether we are simply prolonging suffering for most patients. I dont think any patient over 70 has recovered once intimated. May be no one over 60.
