The CDC had one job, to prevent something like this from happening.

If this is what we get from them, might as well shut it down.

Could be that the rich and famous are seen to have more social contacts, and present a greater risk of transmission. Or that they became rich and famous by being social bullies.

But do you NEED it? I have people in my community bitching about this and they have no symptoms. Cases close by are confirmed (39). So the sick are getting tested...and those with no symptoms DO NOT NEED THE TEST. None of the 39 are celebrities.

Sorry, but these tests are needed for those nurses and doctors on the front lines putting their own lives at risk.

Screw the rich who want to butt in line.

I’m not bothered by this. That’s the way it has always been. The rich gets first dibs and then it filters down to the poor in society over time.

Any other way and you’ll get your socialized medicine.

Im not bothered that the rich are getting tested. Im bothered that the rest of us, even if we have symptoms , can’t get tested unless were so far gone that were admitted to the hospital

I completely understand, but that’s how the system works. Those with wealth get what they want and private companies eventually learn to socialize their tests or treatments for maximum profit. There just hasn’t been a need to figure out how to do that before. Now companies will work on doing this.

You haven’t studied history?

Even the most cursory look at history shows that your viewpoint doesn’t win.

part of the issue is that the difficulty of getting tested interferes with building a contingency plan.

every citizen should have a contingency plan for what to do if they get infected.

every citizen owes it both to himself or herself and his or her community that the contingency plan should be the best contingency plan that they can come up with.

My contingency plan includes going to a place that offers experimental drug treatment. this is an elective that i believe i have a right to choose as an informed citizen.

If I have no symptoms, all I am told is that I should not worry— with no further details call my (hmo “primary care”) doctor, with given.that I need, regardless of what my HMO doctor tells me. In the absence of further detailed information, I am compelled to depend on secondary sources, which indicate that if I cannot get tested by the HMO, I will not get the experimental drug from the HMO.

I need more than “do not worry” to build the best contingency plan that I feel I need. Garbage in, garbage out (and my fault if I believe in the garbage out and end up dead as a result).

If you had a test today that test could be null and void tomorrow if you aren’t staying home...or getting retested frequently.... A test does not make you immune. what it does do is tell if a sick person is just sick or has the virus.

Cronoa virus has it’s own footprint, other illnesses cannot throw off the coronatest....There is a ‘virus load level’ that must be present in order for the test to accurately register a positive result.
You can still be infectious with a low viral load level.

I phoned our hospital to determine exactly what I need to do.
Here you have to have your PCP Physician write you a script. If you can't reach you're physician, them phone the hospital who will direct you further... if you don't connect with the right person at the hospital then call 911.

If you want special arrangements for hospitalization and use of an experiential drug where it's being offered....then it's up to you to find out where they have this and make to determine their requirements.

Honestly, you sound like in this crisis you want preferred treatment and unwilling to do the work to find out who, what, where and when on your own...... In a medical war zone you'd be toxic.

> I phoned our hospital to determine exactly what I need to do [...]

So happy for you (and thanks for the info for your situation).

I think I implied that I did the same thing, but was only told not to worry. That’s all. Beyond that non-help, I have not been standing still. I have been seeking (legal) alternatives ever since I received that. Medicine is not my field of training, but because of this I am trying to come up to speed. I am just trying to do the best I can with what I have, as I expect most of us are, and trying to develop some contingency plans, again as I expect most of us are. Actually I am hopefully somewhat along the road to some solutions.

To be forthright, if you think I am seeking preferred treatment, or acting solely on my behalf, then you are wrong. You are also welcome to stay as far away from me as you like. That sounds like probably the best path for us both. Yes— please stay far away from me. Beyond that, I perceive no value to your opinion of me, or of anything else for that matter.

And it is “your physician” not “you’re physician.” If you are going to try to be patronizing or insulting, please at least try to use correct English.
