It did not take long for the Cuban regime to bring up the embargo in the context of the coronavirus. This is from an NBC News report:
The island faces chronic shortages in basic goods that have worsened with the Trump administration's tightening of the embargo, citing Cuba's human rights record and its support for Venezuelas government. Long lines and crowds outside stores are a normal way of life here.
Soap and detergent are difficult to find right now in ration stores, which are those that sell by the libreta or ration book. But they are available in dollar stores for those who can afford it.
Well, here we go again. Let's end the embargo and Cuban socialism will finally work after 60 years.
Yes, it's true that President Trump tightened the embargo by actually enforcing it. But it wasn't only Trump: after all, The Cuban Liberty and Democratic Solidarity (Libertad) Act of 1996 connected lifting the embargo with improvements in human rights in Cuba.

Bump
Communism can’t survive without trade with free nations?
Yeah I thought it was a self sufficient thingy..communism.
I thought cuba was sending resources to Italy?
Sure, I get it. The USA has a problem in combating the Corona virus because we rely on China for everything.
Cuba has a problem with the Corona virus because the USA refuses to ship anything to Cuba.
Makes perfect sense.
Can’t they call on Bernie to stop by and get the place straightened out on how to properly run a Soviet Socialist State?
Plenty of other places they can get things from.
Yep. The Cuban commies can trade with any other nation in the world except us. Been that way since JFK imposed the embargo in 1962. There are no U.S. ships quarantining the island like during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Consumer goods and foodstuffs are available to Cuba from many other nations just like they are to us.
Shortages & rationing are about control, and nothing else.
Where does it say Cubans must drive sixty year old clunkers and not modern Japanese or Korean cars? Where does it say it?
