“Over the past 24 hours, the U.S. reported 14,024 new cases of coronavirus and 265 new deaths, raising the total to 68,347 cases and 1,037 dead”
This is the highest number of new cases reported by a single country in one day since the coronavirus pandemic began.
You have to realize that a whole lot of tests are just now coming back!!
We seem to currently, be heading toward becoming the world champions, in COVID-19.
Not there yet, though.
13,355 is quite a total though.
That is America’s total just yesterday, according to the website https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
Increased testing coupled with elimination of testing backlog. Close to half a million have now been tested.
1.5% death rate?...at this point
Over the past 24 hours, the U.S. reported 14,024 new cases of coronavirus and 265 new deaths, raising the total to 68,347 cases and 1,037 dead
Also saw that, reported via Fox website
The acceleration of infections and new deaths are continuing to increase in the U.S.
Regarding confirmed cases we are just behind Italy for third place. We should rise to the most infected country in the world in about a week.
Adjusted for population, it is not the highest number.
Also...
China is pathologically deceitful - According to the data, Italy has more than twice as many deaths as China, and almost the same number of infections as China. No serious person can believe that China's numbers are accurate.
Also...
COVID-19 has been in the USA for two months.
Seasonal influenza has been in the USA for 5.5 months.
Minimum CDC Estimates for Seasonal influenza...
Cases - 38 million
Deaths - 23,000
Finally...
The USA COVID-19 "Case Fatality Rate" has held steady between 1.2% and 1.5% for almost three weeks.
That number will decline significantly when massive wide scale USA testing begins to capture the huge percentage of non-infected Americans in the data.
Bottom Line...
We did not shut down the country to prevent 23,000 influenza deaths.
Why did we shut it down to prevent far fewer deaths from COVID-19?
“This is the highest number of new cases reported by a single country in one day since the coronavirus pandemic began.”
_______
Should be spelled PANdemIC.
My measure is that if we do not use any auxiliary additional hospital space like ships, hotels, or convention centers for a given locality to tend to the sick from the virus, then this has been the biggest overblown thing in history. Yea it will get hectic in hospitals and yea supplies might run short, but that doesn’t mean they ran out of supplies or bad space. Heroic efforts put in by all, but handled within existing capacity.
ehhh, more testing?
I haven’t seen people falling over dead in the streets as in China.
Nice scaremongering. Tell me, what is the geographic size of the countries you are comparing us to? Italy? France? If you think living in the US will kill you, leave.
The truth is, The highest deaths are concentrated in urban areas... green transportation. It is coming to rural areas, but much slower, until it hits.
Testing ramping up, is it?
