Trump is providing hope to the nation and at the same time, quieting those that are fussing about the economics.
I understand Trump said the date would have to be flexible.
I expect he will end up backing off of it and setting a new date. Possibly with very specific criteria to be acheived.
That is consistent with his Presidential M.O.
I have a serious question for you.
How long a lockdown will be long enough for you? When will you feel secure that everyone can leave their homes without the virus starting to circulate again?
Because, I don’t think that day ever comes — even if we could somehow miraculously stop it from circulating here, it only takes one person coming into our country to start it up again.
And here’s a prediction you can take to the bank: If the Dem is elected Pres, the media hysteria shuts off like a faucet. And if Trump is re-elected, they will continue to breathlessly report every new case and every new death and try to anchor it around his neck.
There are no easy answers.
The pandemic is real. So is the threat to the economy.
Anybody who tells you there is an easy answer is an idiot or a liar or both.
Speaking of hoaxes and conspiracy theories, are you saying that the New York governor suddenly is blind and irresponsible because he wants to re-start that virus-riddled statewide economy, along with NYC and Manhattan.
Evidently President Trump and Gov. Cuomo realize that it’s actually possible to walk and chew gum at the same time, to battle a virus and revive an economy that we intentionally hobbled.
I realize you want to dwell on “We lost February” fantasy as a talking point, but whether it was “lost” or not, the fact is — we are here, at this moment.
All we have are the fields of today to till. The past is non-existent, it can only be a source of knowledge. The future is non-existent, it can only be a source of speculation. The only reality is this very day, this very moment of action or inaction.
In the real world. it is possible to have an economy that is helping to finance the war against the virus, and keeping people productive and at work.
In the fantasy world, people waste time whining that “we lost February” when in reality that is a gross exaggeration that is meant to create a fantasyland in which President Trump was doing absolutely nothing
Was that Trump who severely restricting flights from China early on and was rewarded by being called a xenophobe and a racist?
Or was that Joe Biden or Bernie Sanders or Hilary Clinton who took that clearly wise action?
