CLAIM: NBC News White House correspondent Peter Alexander claims he asked the president to calm Americans, and he lashed out.
VERDICT: False. Alexander first asked whether the president was giving Americans false hope. Peter Alexander is attempting to defend himself after being called out by President Donald Trump on national television during a White House briefing on the coronavirus outbreak on Friday.
Alexander claims that he was simply asking the president to reassure Americans.

In a sane world Peter would be kicked right in the teeth.
Peter the Great.
Alexander the Great.
Peter Alexander the Mental Midget.
Our MSM is so leftist, so openly hostile to our President they are not to be trusted in anything they say at all.
I presume every word they utter is painted with a leftist political objective. If you view them in this way you will be correct in your judgment of them 99.9999% of the time.
I was watching...he was a fool....they should take the cameras out of the briefing room...they just want sound bites to cut up...do not show the reporter..
Peter the Sad Clown
Peter Alexander used to be an anchor and reporter in Seattle.
Draw your own conclusions.
For such as Peter reassurance IS false hope.
Yes, the original question asked by the jerk reporter and answered by POTUS is not shown in the news clips I have seen, even on Fox. They show the follow up question that rightly got the President worked up.
The YouTube clip makes my point. Compare the transcript in the article with the clip and you see the clip starts with the followup question and does not show the President’s response to the first question by this twerp.
Peter Alexander was actually calling Trump a liar. I was happy to watch Trump take him down.
I wish President Trump would just say “I’m not going to answer questions that are a sermon, gotcha questions, or questions about me or my character.”
As a news consumer, I want good questions about things and situations that might affect me and mine.
That this scoundrel chooses to steal the focus to his "gotcha" vendetta is below the status of fungus on the spectrum of responsible vs corrupt in on-camera comportment.
That his contemporaries in the (ha ha) "news" (ha ha) "profession" sided with him tells me, and everyone, that they are untrustworthy peddlers of leftist resistance, and hate America and Americans.
Any relation to Pierre Delecto?
The look of feigned innocence was so transparent he needs to go back to acting school. People like him induce projectile vomiting.
You’re right. They should never show the reporters,
Peter Alexander. Like the other failed “Peters” (Buttigieg, Carlos Danger, Peter Jennings), this one is limp too.
Journalism is about bad news. Journalism is negative, and knows it.Journalism claims to be objective, knowing it is actually negative. Thus, journalism essentially claims that negativity is objectivity.
There is a word for such a claim: cynicism.
What you are seeing is someone whose agenda is the opposite of what he is asking the president to do. He calls on the POTUS to reassure the American people - but his agenda is to frighten us. Trump had been reassuring us to the best of his ability all along - and the plea to reassure America amounts to a claim that the president is utterly failing at his objective.
And that amounts to a claim that America cannot be reassured. How could America be reassured when the sky is falling?
Well-stated, contextual and seeing a bigger picture, c_I_c. Thanks. BUMP!
