Assume that produce has been contaminated by accident, but maybe also intentionally. Wash with soap whatever you can. Cook thoroughly when indicated. Peal away several layers of lettuce. Wash your hands after any potential contamination.

Of course, anyone attempting to contaminate food must suffer severe legal penalties--regardless of age.
