On Thursday, the State Department raised its global health advisory to level four, its highest level. The new advisory encourages all U.S. citizens to avoid international travel due to the global spread and impact of the Wuhan coronavirus.
U.S. citizens who are currently abroad are encouraged by the State Department to immediately return to the United States, if possible, or prepare to remain abroad for an indefinite period of time. U.S. citizens who live abroad are also encouraged to avoid international travel at this time.
"If you chose to travel internationally," the State Department warns, "your travel plans may be severely disrupted, and you may be forced to remain outside of the United States for an indefinite time frame."
Due to the outbreak of the Wuhan virus, the State Department warns travelers that many countries are implementing travel restrictions and mandatory quarantines. Airlines and cruise ship operators have also canceled trips and suspended operations.
Many U.S. citizens remain abroad as several countries have halted travel plans in a drastic attempt to slow the spread of the Wuhan virus. A State Department spokesperson told Politico that the department is currently "considering all options to assist U.S. citizens" currently overseas.
Travel Advisory: Level 4 - The Department of State advises U.S. citizens to avoid all international travel due to the global impact of #COVID19 . In countries where commercial departure options remain available, U.S. citizens who live in the US should arrange for immediate return.
How does this square with planes STILL arriving from China and three Chinese carriers saying they are resuming flights?
No bueno. My wife is in Matamoros Mexico working on her papers. I travel there every weekend to pay bills and buy her groceries.
Since they were young single guys with no kids, wife or mortgage payments I just told them to go and explore the world.
They said that they would go backpacking to exotic places like Tibet, China and Europe. I hope they get back in time.
What is that about a 5 minute flight?
And at todays presser some idiot was trying to skewer Trump about bringing home 10 tourists stuck in Morocco
Im so glad I returned from London to DFW yesterday evening. The last couple days there, London was shutting down and it was a sight I wont forget. My UK trip will be something to remember in the months ahead when international travel isnt possible.
Yep, it’s sickening the way some leftists are more interested in blaming POTUS than cooperating to bring the country together.
I love it everybodys closing their borders
Who was right about borders?
The use of “Wuhan Cornoavirus” even by the State Dept here is s an indicator of some sort. I expect some sort of remittance to be sought.
The moderator of the apprkpriate Presidential debate needs to ask the Dem candidate if they think the closing borders was a mistake.
About a 3 minute walk. I live in the extreme southern tip of Brownsville. I see the bridge from my porch
Joking aside - this latest may stop those flights...
