Nice suburb near the beach with section 8 and all the drug problems three blocks away. Rough neighborhood also too close for comfort, but driving distance. Already recruited other watch stations on the block with “what if” conversations.

By and large, I think candor7 is mostly correct here. Sure, we see some bluster, but when push comes to shove, most conservatives respect the rule of law.
Granted, if the rule of law is totalitarian, that does change the complexion just a bit, but overall, it is more difficult on the Left.
Conservatives may make that compliance decision based on reason and law, while Leftists make that compliance decision largely based on personal emotion.

If it happens, it will spread very quickly in CA. I lived there during the King riots. A little riot went big really fast when the street gangs figured out they could make a bundle by looting during the riots.
