sure, it’s possible. but it feels like this is just cognitive dissonance because you don’t want to believe the CDC but also Trump and the presidential administration is taking it seriously so you’re coming up with an supported theory that lets you keep ignoring infectious disease experts while acknowledging Trump is listening to those same experts.

I hope you’re right, but I’ve seen plenty of comments here by those who say they’re going to defy any quarantine order because it’s their constitutional right to go for a drive, go out for a drink, etc.
Not to be outdone by Newsom, here on the east coast, the 3 Democrat Governors in the tri-state area (NY, NJ, and CT) are ramping up the restrictions on the citizenry. And since his suggestion to nationalize all industry didn't go over too well, NYC mayor Bill de Blasio has floated the idea of a total lockdown in NYC.

Every liberal is an anarchist who wants a totalitarian society for everyone else.
I betting this show will play out differently in CA’s big cities as opposed to the rural areas. The grasshoppers have been allowed to do what they want, when they want, and to whom they want, for so long that I don’t believe they will just quietly obey any new rules.
I find it interesting that Trump has been characterized as everyone from Hitler to Stalin and Mussolini in that, when he gets power in his hands he will abuse it and won’t give it up.
He is being prodded by the Left to abuse his powers (probably so they can accuse him later of abusing his powers!) but he has demonstrated an remarkable degree of restraint and disinclination to apply sweeping mandates, ensuring that the individual States handle these personal liberty kinds of things such as curfews, business activities, and limits on gatherings on their own. Conservatives appreciate this approach (because most of us believe in giving the States power in many matters) but...when the Leftist states get this power in their hands, when run by Leftists like Newsom and Inslee, they grab those levers of power and squeeze hard, damn the individual liberties or welfare of businesses.
Funny...Dan Bongino (I think) said yesterday that the Left is crying out for another FDR to handle this crisis, and he said something like “Yeah...if we had another FDR in this crisis, he would be rounding up all people of Chinese ancestry and shipping them off to internment camps!”

Yeah, when I saw what they were doing in the SF area, my heart skipped a beat and knew it was only a matter of time before they do it in So-Cal. I’m taking my work home today and my family and I will be, supplied up, armed up, hunkered down and ready to wait this thing out.
