The fight between the U.S. women’s national soccer team and U.S. Soccer – the federation that oversees the women’s team and their male counterparts – got uglier Wednesday night.
It included strong words from a star player after the team hid their U.S. Soccer uniform logos during a national anthem protest prior to a 3-1 win over Japan in the final of the SheBelieves Cup in Frisco, Texas.
Megan Rapinoe, who led last year’s U.S. triumph in the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France, tore into U.S. Soccer and boss Carlos Cordeiro after the game, just hours after Cordeiro apologized for a federation court filing as the organization defended itself against a $66 million discrimination lawsuit filed by the women players.

I would be the first to admit that women’s soccer is a lot more exciting than it was in the 1990s. But the idea of me paying $35 for a stadium seat, or some female player making 2-million a year? That’s non-existent.
All this court action will achieve is the national soccer federations all dumping support in general for women’s soccer and letting them go off on their own.

Occasionally they show US WNT games on cable channels; they look like they’re playing in high school stadiums (you can actually see the parking lot over the fence/wall), and it looks like they are playing only in front of friends & family.
They have desperately tried to make women’s soccer “a thing” in the US, to no avail (I believe they’ve gone through three leagues already); it isn’t going to happen. US men’s soccer suffers enough as it is, and unlike the WNBA, there isn’t much revenue to share from the men’s league to keep it afloat.

No she didn’t. She got benched because she was injured and didn’t match-up well against the English player that she would have been responsible to defend. That would be like Tom Brady sitting out the AFC Championship Game for a minor injury and to protect him from a particularly good pass rush. If the Pats went on to win the Superbowl would he be considered as having ‘led them’?

The USWNT has filed a $66 million gender discrimination lawsuit against the U.S. Soccer Federation. The basis of their lawsuit is that the men’s national team gets paid more than the women’s team.
The Federation recently filed a set of legal documents in the case. One of the arguments they make in their defense is that the men are more skilled than the women.
THAT is what precipitated this most recent protest. LMAO. These women are going bat-sh!t crazy because they can’t face the truth.

U.S. Soccer is the employer of both the men's and the women's national team players. The women win world championships. The men lose to Caribbean microstates. The women will win in the court of public opinion even without U.S. Soccer being stupidly insulting. The pay issue is complex and U.S. Soccer has a case. But they'll get their heads handed to them if they think insulting the women is a winning strategy.
You want equal pay? Get equal revenues 51% of thr population are women and they are involved with or control far more than that when it comes to spending. You want equal pay, then get them to buy your tickets and what have your games. Until then shut up.
