President Donald Trump endorsed former Auburn Football coach Tommy Tuberville over his former attorney general, Jeff Sessions, in a tight Alabama Senate primary runoff this month.
The president cited Tuberville’s football prowess in his backing Tuesday over Sessions, who served in the Senate for 20 years between 1997 and 2017 before Trump’s administration.
“Tommy was a terrific head football coach at Auburn University. He is a REAL LEADER who will never let MAGA/KAG, or our Country, down! Tommy will protect your Second Amendment,” Trump tweeted.
“He will be a great Senator for the people of Alabama. Coach Tommy Tuberville, a winner, has my Complete and Total Endorsement. I love Alabama.
The endorsement is expected to be a blow to Sessions as the two candidates have each raced to pitch themselves as most aligned with the president.

Jeff Sessions not only made the Mueller probe possible but he became a lap dog for The DOJ and Rod Rosenstein as they went after Trump, Trump’s children, and the Trump campaign, frequently complimenting Rosenstein on what a good job he was doing.
I agree, I did not want Sessions to be rewarded for his perfidy as AG.
Tuberville may not be on our side when it comes to amnesty, it is coming again, Grahamnesty will never stop pushing it.
I thought Trump was only pretending to intensely dislike Sessions? Nope, turns out he really doesn’t trust Sessions.
Sessions, either from naivety, stupidity or treachery almost destroyed Trump’s Presidency. His flimsy and asinine “recusal” on Russia set in motion a 2 year DOJ inspired coup attempt.

Exactly. Sessions screwed President Trump by taking a position he knew he was ducking out of. Nothing he did prior makes up for that.

My other gripe with Sessions is that he personified so much of what is wrong with conservative political figures in the U.S. these days. He’s a guy who teaches Sunday school and quotes the Bible at length on Sundays ... then goes to Washington and gets his ass kicked by pagans and Pharisees the rest of the week.
Cost us a Senate seat.
