My son got married in August of last year. My wife and I removed all the furniture from our living, kitchen and dining room area. We put rented tables and chairs in our living room, dining room and on our deck. We cooked a milk can dinner on our portable outdoor burner. I took an excavator and cut three seating tiers in our back yard down a slope to the creek and bought 100 hay bales for seating. I built the arbor for the couple to stand under from trees harvested from the property. I got the 1929 Model A out of storage and ready to run for the newlyweds to leave in. The whole affair was unique and it cost us about $1500. Daughter in laws dress was from a second hand store and was altered to fit for less than $150. Brides maids and groomsmen wore nice formal off the rack clothing most of which was bought at deep discounts. I insisted the couple take 12-15 weeks of premarital counseling and bi monthly counseling after the wedding with our Pastor if they wanted my blessing for the marriage. They gladly obliged. Daughter in law had a car payment. My son paid it off. They have committed to no consumer debt and cash only for vehicles. They are currently saving to buy property to put a house on. They currently have no debt and have a substantial amount of money saved in 6 months. They love the life theyre living. No stress about money, not because they are wealthy because they arent.......................yet😎

Very nice! I got married in my in-law’s driveway. It was a nice driveway in a rich town in CT, but still — no need for anything fancy. People need to live the life they can afford.
