In 1981, Hastings was charged with accepting a $150,000 bribe in exchange for a lenient sentence and a return of seized assets for 21 counts of racketeering by Frank and Thomas Romano, and of perjury in his testimony about the case. In 1983,

So I grew up in the Detroit area. For much of my life, Detroit was run by the remarkably corrupt Coleman A. Young. He was very good at being corrupt and never got caught.

He was followed by Dennis Archer, by all accounts a very good honest man, so of course, he had no chance at re-election.

Kwame Kilpatrick followed him. After he got out of prison for perjury, the feds went after him. He’s still in for another 25 years I think.

In 2009, I lost my job and ended up getting a new job in Baltimore. The day I moved there was the day Sheila Dixon was convicted. Boy, I felt right at home.

By the way, she wasn’t really convicted of embezzlement, she stole gift cards meant for poor children and used them to buy herself cool stuff.

Tied for second place in the polls is TJ Smith. He’s an ex-cop and seems to be the only intelligent and honest one in the bunch
