Morning AB, All. As always, thank you AB for doing this thread so reliably and keeping the peace with gentle thread policing. Thank you Bray for weekly written wisdom, Thank all yon contributors for excellent commentary to flesh it all out.

Below are the words from my daily political diary. It is quite long so scroll on by if not interested. But do stay around and add your commentary and point of view to the thread.

Trump commutes sentence of ex-Illinois Gov. Blagojevich, pardons ex-NY police commissioner Kerik, ex-49ers owner DeBartolo

Yes Gov. Blagojevich did not take any money but he did offer to sell the Illinois Senator status.

However, he already served eight years.  Come on, that's plenty of time served for a guy who did not get a dime out of it.  Yes what he did was wrong and had money been offered Blagojevich probably would have taken it.

Trump commuted the remainder of Blagojevich’s 14-year prison term. the Illinois Democrat had begun serving that sentence in 2013 after he was found guilty of attempting to trade the U.S. Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama for money or favors.

The president announced that he had issued pardons to Kerik and DeBartolo.

Kerik, who oversaw the NYPD during the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, pleaded guilty in 2009 to charges of felony tax fraud and lying to the government. He was released from federal prison in 2013.

Great pic of presidential limousine going around the track.

It's known as the beast.

President Trump arranged to tell the gentlemen to start their engines before the Daytona speedway race.

There was a horrible collision during the actual race, which was not complete until the day AFTER as a terrible rain storm stopped all the action.

She's Completely Lost It: Now Pelosi Is Claiming 'There Was No Acquittal'

Pelosi says that there was no acquittal because in order for there to be such a thing there is a need for a trial and a verdict.

What the hell was that they did in the House of Representatives, bringing up witnesses, voting to impeach, sending that result to the senate.

Woman needs to go.  Evidently she's drinking too much vodka.

If you were wondering how Nancy Pelosi has been handling the events of the past few months, it's safe to say she's not taking it well. She's been keeping a low profile after making a spectacle of herself at the 2020 State of the Union address, but over the weekend she gave an interview with CNN's Christiane Amanpour that must be seen to be believed. If reality won't do what Nancy wants, she'll just deny it's happening to her.

~snip~

Amanpour: What about, though, the fact that the president seems liberated? And this is about Democratic politics, so I'm not asking you to criticize here. But he was acquitted, his poll ratings are higher...

Pelosi: He was not... there was no acquittal. You can't have an acquittal unless you have a trial. And you can't have a trial when you have witnesses and documents. So he can say he was acquitted, and the headlines can say "Acquitted," but he's impeached forever. Branded with that and not vindicated. And even the senators were saying, "Yes, it wasn't right." But didn't have the courage to act upon that.

Amanpour: Except for?

Pelosi: Except for Mitt Romney. God bless him. And then the president criticized him for using his faith to do something he knew was wrong...

Stone got 36 months

Originally some idiot recommended a sentence from 7 to 9 years.

For lying to congress?

Hillary tears up her cell phone, Comey lied to everyone on the planet.  The two FBI lovers colluded to rid America of a duly elected President.

And they think giving this poor slob who only wanted to help, 7-9 years in jail is ok?

Believe me, I know what injustice is.  I live in Delaware.

A federal judge on Thursday sentenced Roger Stone, President Trump’s longtime friend and political adviser, to serve three years and four months in prison for impeding a congressional investigation of Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

The penalty from U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson comes after weeks of infighting over the politically charged case that threw the Justice Department into crisis, and it is likely not to be the final word. Even before the sentencing hearing began, Trump seemed to suggest on Twitter he might pardon Stone. With the proceedings ongoing, Trump questioned whether his ally was being treated fairly.

Bloomberg Faces Searing Attacks At Free-For-All Democratic Debate

Why yes I did listen to Wednesday's 2/19/20 Democratic debate on MSNBC.

And yes, as most of the political pundits decided, the wonderful Bloomberg did a horrible job.

I cannot stand this man, simply cannot stand him.  I'd rather have Joe Biden for President than this snotty Bloomberg guy.

Thinks he can buy the world.

He needs to be shown a thing or two.

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2020-election/democratic-presidential-candidates-set-debate-las-vegas-n1138781

The Democratic presidential debate Wednesday night kicked off with fireworks, as every person on stage not named Mike Bloomberg attacking the former New York City mayor, who was participating in his first presidential face off.

The first hit at the NBC/MSNBC two-hour debate here came from frontrunner Bernie Sanders, who ripped Bloomberg for his record as mayor.

Next to swing at Bloomberg was Elizabeth Warren, who took aim at the mayor's past critical statements about women.

"I'd like to talk about who we're running against. A billionaire who calls women 'fat broads' and 'horse-faced lesbians,' and, no, I'm not talking about Donald Trump,” Warren said. "I'm talking about Mayor Bloomberg."

Amy Klobuchar took her shot next.

"I've been told many times to wait my turn and to step aside," she said. "And I'm not going to do that now, and I'm not going to do that because a campaign memo from Mayor Bloomberg said, this morning, that the only way we get a nominee is if we step aside for him," she said.

Moments later, Pete Buttigieg offered his criticism for Bloomberg

"Let's put someone forward who is actually a Democrat," Buttigieg said.

I have viewed many photos of the debate that clearly show the box photo to be fake news

Videos from the other side clearly show feet on the floor
