The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania named its next dean and it's a historic choice.
Erika H. James will be the first woman and first person of color to lead the prestigious business school.
"This is an exciting time to be in business education," James said. "The scope and platform of the Wharton School provides an opportunity to create far reaching impact for students, scholars, and the business community."
The announcement was made Wednesday by Penn President Amy Gutmann and Provost Wendell Pritchett.

I’ve never met a female of any color named Dean.
I don’t care about her color. What are her credentials.
Dean Martin
Affirmative action has had a very caustic effect on achievement by minorities. I’ve run into more than a few beneficiaries of affirmative action who are clearly post turtles.
Now, every time I see an achievement, I wonder if it’s just another post turtle.
Sad.
I wonder how many more competent and qualified white (and Asian) men were passed over so that Erika H. James can have this token of achievement?
Did they pat her on the head?
Was she smart enough to vote for Trump?
“This is an exciting time to be in business education,” James said.”
Yeah? For you. I couldn’t give a squat...means nothing for me. Your “color” means jack to me.
And she’s gonna ‘lead’ Wharton? A business school?? LOLOLOL!! She has a psychology background, not business. LOLOL!!

I am completely indifferent to these firsts. If she’s the most qualified person for the job, then she’s a good choice. If she’s not the most qualified, then it’s inappropriate to choose her over more qualified options.
For some reason, I’m not a good fit for today’s academic world. Perhaps it’s my right and wrong view that facts matter?
Since when does that matter?
It’s the LOOKITMEEEE and pandering politics that dictate the hiring decision maker(s)
I dont care about gender, race or regions affiliation, I just want the MOST COMPETENT PERSON.
A very good friend of mine who is also a lady of color, was shocked when I told her that I was always suspicious of minorities in positions they clearly cannot do. I always look at that as an Affirmative Action choice by Personnel. Good and intelligent Blacks like AA, but dont realize how the rest of us often view it.
Trump earned a degree from The Wharton School of Business.

exactly, Is she qualified?
“Most qualified person for the job” is a criteria created by straight white males to keep black, hispanic, female, LGBT, and other minorities down.
You have not been paying attention, citizen—you need to take some make-up classes at the re-education camp!
I hope it works out better than Harvard Law School’s first woman of color.
