The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention late Monday raised its travel advisory for South Korea to its highest level after the number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country surged past 800.
The Level 3 warning means Americans should avoid all nonessential travel to South Korea, which has the highest concentration of coronavirus infections outside China. South Korean officials say 893 people have tested positive for the novel virus.

South Korea now has the second-most cases in the world and has had a near 15-fold increase in reported infections in a week, as health workers continue to find batches in the southeastern city of Daegu and nearby areas, where panic has brought towns to an eerie standstill.
Of the 60 new cases reported early Tuesday by South Koreas Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 49 came from Daegu and the surrounding areas of North Gyeongsang province.
The country also reported its eighth fatality from COVID-19, a man in his 60s who was linked to a hospital in Cheongdo, where a slew of infections has been reported among patients at a mental ward.
The U.S. agencys warning came a day after South Korean President Moon Jae-in declared a red alert, the first in the country since the 2009 H1N1 swine flu epidemic.
South Korea ordered the temporary shutdown of 1,100 churches and annex buildings belonging to the secretive Shincheonji Church of Jesus formally known as the Temple of the Tabernacle of the Testimony from which more than half of that nations cases stem. But authorities were having difficulty locating members, many of whom are likely in hiding, a former member said.

Bring Out Your Dead
Post to me or FReep mail to be on/off the Bring Out Your Dead ping list.
The purpose of the Bring Out Your Dead ping list (formerly the Ebola ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the Bring Out Your Dead threads will miss the beginning entirely.
*sigh* Such is life, and death...
If a quarantine saves just one child's life, it's worth it.
Here is the page describing the a Phase levels 1-6

What do MERS,SARS, and the coronavirus have in common?
HUH? Come on now, answer.
Take in consideration this. Its kills by respiratory infection, mostly. So what does China as well as most Asian countries have that we do not have here (like they do) in the USA?
Drastic air pollution.
Not only that but the Chinese AND Asian people smoke like chimneys!!!
They're all coronaviruses that have their origins in China.
(Okay, where's my reward?)
Ya, I have heard that.
Pollution?..China is the worst, and surprise, South Korea is the 4th worst.
Japan is also bad since a lot of it drifts across from China.
This, IMO is the reason they have high rates for the infections from these types of respiratory infections.
Ya wen and ruined it didnt ya? LOL.
I really had a nice argument going there..
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Washington Post are panic sites? You make them sound like Alex Jones.
25% of the airborne particles in the LA (California) basin are from China.
