Remember, it was the intelligence community that drove the war drums and provided the pretext for our invasion of Iraq and overthrow of Saddam

Its perfectly clear at this point that Iraq was one of the biggest foreign policy mistakes in American history and the current situation in Iraq is a total disaster.

At every turn, America’s own interests were rejected in pretty much every decision on Iraq and other countries benefited from the spoils of the Iraq war while America bore the financial and human costs of the war.

The big winners of the Iraq war were the Saudis and Kuwaitis because
America took out a dangerous competitor in the oil biz along with the Iranians because they now have defacto control of most of Iraq which is powerless to resist

Almost as if it were planned that way

I agree with your assessment.

The more I look at the facts, the same deep state knocked off Kennedy and got us into the Vietnam escalation after the fake Gulf of Tonkin incident.
