Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders seems to have swept Latino voters in the Saturday’s Nevada caucuses, an affirmation of his months-long investments in outreach that could presage his success in primaries still to come in heavily Latino states.
Sanders is counting on Latino voters, the largest nonwhite contingent of voters in 2020, to carry him to the Democratic nomination. In Nevada, where Latinos make up about 19 percent of eligible voters, they helped hand him a big victory.
Entrance polls showed Saturday evening that just over half of Latino voters in Nevada had backed him, roughly four times as many as supported former Vice President Joe Biden. The rest of the candidates earned less than 10 percent of Latino support. (Historically, some entrance polls have undercounted Latino voters, which could skew the results.)
Sanders is trying to appeal to Latino voters with a progressive policy platform that speaks to their core interests: health care, jobs, and, for some, immigration.

Anyone mal-educated is not going to be a “natural” Republican voter - which is what the Dems want not just for minorities, but everyone else as well.
But certainly Democrat Latinos voting in a closed primary are not “natural Republicans” by default, regardless of the Latino population at large...so your comment in this context makes zero sense.

Even if they were ‘natural Republicans’, and irrespective of how they vote, we have borders for a reason, and giving amnesty to people who came here illegally is legitimizing disrespect of our border. There are most definitely people who need and deserve political asylum and the path to a new life. They should be supported. The rest need to play by the rules.

What pray tell constitutes the need for “political asylum?” Unless you are about to be exterminated into death camps why should you get asylum? Wish we could go back to the pre 1940s when we didn’t have a “refugee” policy at all.

When I was a kid, there very few "Hispanics" in the country. Puerto Ricans in NYC, a few Cubans excaping Castro, and Mexicans along the border. Now they outnumber the Blacks. How did this happen?
My old high school was 85% black when I was there (in the 80’s) ....now, it’s 85% Hispanic. It really didn’t take that many years to change.

Not disagreeing with you - just remarking on the similarity.
Someone on another thread, I can’t remember which—I’m tired and should have gone to bed hours ago— pointed out that the only candidate who ran ads on Spanish-language TV in Nevada was Sanders.
I read somewhere else—also can’t recall at this point, I’ve read too damn much—that the Sanders people went all in targeting the Latino casino and hotel workers in Vegas and Reno to drive up the vote.
