Ex-Trump aide: FBI tried to set me up in 'perjury trap' KT McFarland says her life 'went to hell' at launch of Russia probe

Former Deputy National Security Adviser K.T. McFarland said FBI agents working with Robert Mueller's special counsel probe tried to set up her up in a "perjury trap."

"The FBI showed up at my house unannounced. I was all by myself. They come in and I said, 'Do I need a lawyer for anything? I have never met with any Russians. I have never dealt with any Russians,'" she told Fox News' Brian Kilmeade.

McFarland said the agents who questioned her insisted they just needed a "little bit of information" to help them with the investigation.

"So, I naively went along with it. The whole time they were setting me up for a perjury trap," she told "Fox & Friends." "Because Brian, they seized all of my files, my documents, text messages, cell phones from the period I was in government. ... They had control of them. They wouldn't let me have control of them."

She said the search turned up nothing.

"They thought they could pressure me to say, 'Well, I lied in one of my early talks with you guys when I didn't have access to my information,'" she said.

The fbi can't be trusted?

Why on earth would you add a question mark to a true statement?

Obviously no one should ever speak to the FBI without a good attorney present, and even then, any comment should be absolutely vague with implicit deniability.

Two words. Jury nullification. Seems you can’t purge civil servants as required. Trump should troll Fitzgerald and Comey with pardons on political prosecutions.

The FBI uses the law for their own criminal activities. This has got to stop. The FBI needs to be abolished. The same basic techie is how they set up Randy Weaver. Then they murdered his 14 year old son and wife. His wife while she was holding an infant.

Agreed 100%.

This woman was foolish. As soon as they identified themselves and it was clear it was not a social visit, she should have stopped right there.

Apparently, they questioned her for hours! Folks, don't talk with law enforcement without legal counsel. That's to protect your rights.

I don't think it is a coincidence that this is coming out now because it knocks out the RINO side of the defense of the deep state.

This had to be the egomaniacal and diabolical self-destructive behavior of Weissman. It shows how utterly out of control and incompetent these tweedle-dum and tweedle-dee FIBbers were.

You don't get better connected gold-plated credentials than KT McFarland whatever you might think about her.

And these two idiots and their boss trying to prove she was Trump's go-between with the Russians reveals utter ignorance and amateurism. KT would have been on everyone's radar screen and NSA, CIA, FBI counterintelligence would have known instantly any connections she had with the Rooskies. I mean this is not some unknown woman setting up in a coffee kiosk outside of CIA headquarters or something.

Utter unbelievable keystone cop level incompetence.

What I want to know is if even 10% of FBI agents are actually competent, much less are they loyal to the constitution because right now I see no evidence of it.

I hope Trump and Barr now take this agency apart bit by bit, piece by piece and incompetent corrupt brown-nosing agent by agent.

This woman was foolish.

Not really, though this should be a lesson to all of us and another sign to Barr that the FBI is a laughing stock of incompetence.

This is not some junior dweeb. This was KT McFarland they tried to take down. WTF were they thinking?

An innocent person is easily knocked off balance by a show of authority like that. Don’t be so quick too judge.

She had no reason, at that stage, to realize that she was being victimized. She believed, in good faith, that they were on the same team.

As if your judgement would have been so much better in the same circumstances.

They do need to be done away with. We don’t really need a corrupt federal secret police force anyways.

Another indicator they were totally out of control. She was deputy National Security Advisor. Who the hell are some junior FBI dweebs to take the official working papers of a key member of the administration depriving the administration of access to its own records.

Clearly they are not even a part of the US government any more.

Nuke FBI hqs. If you have to take off and do it from space ok, but get 'er done.

She was a senior Trump official. Why should she be afraid of a couple of Junior FIBbers seeking info for an investigation? Oh, because they are utterly insubordinate, that's why, but who would have guessed.

Good/attorney. Not in the same sentence. “Effective”, yes.

You are aware that current Attorney General Barr defended in Court, the sniper who blew away Randy Weaver's wife, because "going after him would have a chilling effect on our ability to use SWAT teams" or something like that....

Also, the psy-ops people played loudspeaker messages at Randy afterwards, while his wife's body was lying there unburied, "how did your wife enjoy breakfast this morning?"

Amen, but the reform/deconstruction HAS to begin with the sacking of the totally useless Wray. I'm dumbstruck as to why some would defend him, this based on absolutely no evidence that he is a good guy in disguise. Such nonsense.

Not at all. But I did see the snippers diagram that showed how he planned to get two with one shot. The murderer was Lon Hariuchi.
