Convenient opinion, but it seems to me they really are Jews or the very few who don't fit the same mold and do have a relationship to Judaism would publicly call them out for besmirching the name of their faith.

Don't bet on it. Quite a number of Reform "jews" are not even jewish according to Jewish law. Reform "jews" declared, in direct violation of the Torah, that patrilineal descent from a Jewish male was also satisfactory to determine who is a Jew. The Torah specifies that only those directly descended from a Jewish woman are actually Jews. That means you have to have a Jewish mother, a maternal Jewish grandmother, etc. to be an actual Jew. Therefore, a lot of Reform "jews" taking it upon themselves to "remodel" Jewish law aren't even Jews!
