Military escalation in Ukraine?

Ukraine's envoy at UNSC: Kremlin continues strategy of escalation in Donbas

Permanent Representative to the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations, Ambassador Serhiy Kyslytsya says the Kremlin continues a strategy of escalation in Donbas, eastern Ukraine.

"The Kremlin continues to pursue a strategy of escalation in Donbas in flagrant violation of Russia's obligations they have undertaken as a party to the Minsk agreements," he said at a UN Security Council (UNSC) meeting in New York City on February 18.

"The attack perpetrated today [Tuesday, February 18] near Zolote, on the fifth anniversary of the Debaltseve tragedy, is particularly cynical," he said.

According to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine properly responded to the offensive launched by the Russian occupation forces, who used weapons prohibited by the Minsk agreements.

"This was Ukraine's inherent right of self-defense," the diplomat said.

In her cap she looked much older,
and the bag across her shoulder
made her look a little like a military man.

Now tell me what is in it for Kremlin to escalate things?
It seems like Ze has run out of ideas and is now turning back to Poroshenko policies of keeping the hostilities alive to make the war the main topic to distract from the failure the government is.

At high level I believe Ukraine is Russia’s to do with as they please.

That said, now they must honor the Minsk agreement for as long as Ukraine does.

Of note, as far as I know it is only Ukraine that claims Russia is not honoring the agreement.

Last I knew (Friday) Putin and Zelensky had met and agreed to ramp up the work of negotiators to implement the Minsk agreement....further troop pullback, de-mining operations and prison exhcanges.

Also Putin had appointed a new point person for Ukraine, who is seen as a less divisive figure than his predecessor. He wouldn’t have done so uness he wanted things to quiet further on the border areas.

“” “” Last I knew (Friday) Putin and Zelensky had met and agreed to ramp up the work of negotiators to implement the Minsk agreement....further troop pullback, de-mining operations and prison exhcanges.”” “”

And that means the escalation is by the Ukrainian Nazis who want to make Putin angry and Ze to look weak.

...”that means the escalation is by the Ukrainian Nazis who want to make Putin angry and Ze to look weak”...

I would not be the least surprised were that to be the case. ...Ukraine has a host of factions in their country, at all levels, who enjoy stirring up conflict and violence. Their Oligarchs play those games as well.
