Prayers for Rush, an American icon. If he were to die today he would have led a life people can only dream of. The hatred he endured was covered by the love millions enjoyed.
Bray........ thanks again for your very insightful opinion pieces. I look forward to reading them weekly. I especially like the biblical reference at the beginning as it provides food for thought, as do your comments.
I read an article by Rush’s brother David. He went through some of the disgusting tweets/emails Rush has received, but countered this with other examples of an outpouring of love and prayers for Rush.
For some reason, this year, I have been thinking that this will be Rush’s last year on radio. I thought he might retire. I did not expect to hear him say he had stage 4 lung cancer. I have been a listener since he first started in Sacramento in 1988. We lived in that area then and always laughed about his Rio Linda jokes).
I have had many disagreements with him over the years and sometimes had to turn him off. Now each day with him has become quite precious to me. There is simply no-one like him.
For sure Rush has left a legacy one can only dream of especially someone who has a background in brodcasting. What he has accomplished will be used as textbook fare for decades when it come to the “how—to” of talk radio. He created it all like no one else.
