Ironically, ordinary people have a much better chance fighting this behemoth than high-profile public figures. Believe me the very last thing any of these prosecutors ever want to deal with is a defendant who thinks he has nothing left to lose.

So they go after people with things to lose: their wealth, their family, their reputation.
Scum like Weissmann (a long time DOJ Democrat Deep Stater) was not getting the progress he wanted in the Enron case.
There were executives who did nothing wrong, and Weissmann knew it. He had the media on his side 24/7, smearing them all as a bunch of rich, white Republicans.
So Weissmann went after their wives, and children.
It's a very effective strategy.
He did the same thing with innocent executives at Merrill Lynch (and threw 2 of them into solitary confinement), who were later exonerated.
