According to the FBI data, among murderers whose race we knew, almost 44 percent of murderers were white... We don’t know the race of all murderers, but even if one assumes that all murderers whose race isn’t identified are minorities, about 31 percent of murderers were white.

All true - Lott doesn't make many mistakes. But as far as racial violence is concerned a person has to realize that black people are about 14% of the population and that most murderers of any race are men. That creates a situation where 7% of the population (black men) commit 31% of crimes.

In many categories, perpetrators are either Black or White. Thus you end up with the oddity that a Hispanic is White if he shoots and kills someone, and Hispanic if he’s the one shot and killed.
