Two observations:
1. Racist is an opinion, not a finding of fact
2. Does John Boalt get his money back, with interest? If I were an heir I would insist on it
Hmmm. If putting his name on the building was part of the grant deal, you have a point!
I don't think most great men in previous times bothered to put naming the building after them as a "quid pro quo." After all, who would do something so crazy as digging up dirt on your own benefactors, smearing the institution by denouncing them publicly, and trying to erase their names--while keeping the toys they brought you anyway? Only crazy people would do that.
I'd love it if the name was part of the deal. They'd be on the hook!
