Republicans Plan Response to Pelosi’s Impeachment-Is-Forever Barb: Expungement Of Trump Record

As the Senate is set to vote Wednesday on the removal from office of President Trump — with acquittal all but assured — Republicans are already plotting to expunge the impeachment if they retake the House.

With House Speaker Nancy Pelosi having publicly stated that Trump’s “impeachment will last forever,” Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, a California Republican who would be in line to be speaker if Republicans regain the majority in November, offering an alternative.

“This is the fastest, weakest, most political impeachment in history,” McCarthy told the New York Post on Wednesday. “I don’t think it should stay on the books.”

If McCarthy does take the gavel from Pelosi in January 2021, he will hold immense power to pass legislation — and a vote on expungement almost certainly would yield party-line support.

Pubbies, this political mudfighting is a lot of fun and it is good to see you are starting to learn how to fight back, but instead of this, how about you focus on the election. Why don’t you talk about what you will DO when you take the house, I mean DO for the American people and stop the DC charade that does nothing that matters.

...and you can climb Everest as many times as you like, as well. Most folks can’t afford to climb Everest without some financial help, though, and having failed on your first attempt is gonna make those supporters pretty shy.

I think we’re to the point where impeachment 2 would destroy their party. I wonder what subject they would pick. There should be a poll about what the Dems should impeachment him for next

#PardonPelosi... Trump can bring it back to the front page with a generous pardon for any crimes associated with Pelosi’s lapse in reason as well as provide a replacement copy. Maybe a hand written note inside saying “Fixed another of your mistakes Nancy.”

Yeah but the first one worked out so good. You really have to be a special type of stupid to think they’re try this again. But why would any network have the judge as pundits? Nobody likes him he is almost wrong. Must be his dashing good looks or it could be his black heart full of Trump hate

Running on UNDOING the impeachment of Trump would work. Here in SC Joe Cunningham (D) (first timer) voted for impeachment but accidentally left it out of his weekly newsletter. He KNOWS he is vulnerable in this or he would be proud of it and highlight it. A candidate running here that would campaign on “expungement of Trump” would swing this district back to the Republican side easily. You would not need any other issue. The anger is there for a great campaign and win.

Agreed. ...republicans must strike while the iron’s hot. Show to all that the rats hate America and it’s people. ...

It’s a great opportunity.

There’s precedent. After the Senate censured Andrew Jackson, “Democrats regained the majority in the Senate in 1837 and had Jackson’s censure expunged from the record.” (from a history.com page)

Recall this little gem from Nov. 6 2017...

Source CBS snooze

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says she doesn’t believe impeaching President Trump should be Democrats’ priority if they are able to win back control of the House in the 2018 midterm elections.

In an interview on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday, the California Democrat was asked if Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, is right in saying that impeaching Mr. Trump would be the first thing she would do if Democrats win the majority.

“No. I believe that, whatever we do, we have a responsibility, first and foremost, to unify the nation. Second of all, you can’t go down any path without the facts and the law. If that’s there, perhaps it will come out in these investigations,” she said.

Republicans need to sit down with President Trump and hammer out a budget that makes a serious dent in the deficit. then they need to cram it down Pelosi’s throat.

If they “find evidence of a new crime” they can bring THAT as a reason for another impeachment process. However, who decides when this becomes an ongoing miscarriage of justice?
