For the Democrat candidates this year, “moderate” refers to economics, and in particular to taxes. On the social issues, nobody is moderate, certainly not among the serious candidates, and if the others think differently, they aren’t saying. Among Democratic candidates Buttigieg is a moderate on health care, since the argument is about single-payer now, or single-payer possibly at some unspecified time in the future.
