Because in backroom discussions, a bunch of Repub Senators were insisting on time to “speechify”. Mitch is letting them do it .... this may be some of the trade-off for “no” votes on witnesses ... or maybe not.
I am VERY unhappy that Trump will be doing the SOTU before acquittal. He should be able to walk in the House Chamber without that monkey on his back.

Meh. I’m fine with him doing a symbolic middle finger “you can’t touch me” SOTU.
How is each senator going to get ten minutes to “speechify” if these guys are going to drone on for a couple of hours?
This woman’s voice is grating.
I was also upset at first but then I thought about it. President Trump is going to list every single accomplishment, tell the country what great shape were in.
And then Dems have to vote to remove him from office.
I love it.....he’s stepping up with ‘the last word’ before the vote tomorrow.... saying He’s the President and this is what I have done for this country.....to a full court and a worldwide audience.
