The Left hates guns and hates hunters (except Biden’s) so they got a bunch of fees and taxes passed associated with hunting licenses so now that hunting is declining, the media mourns that governments aren’t generating enough tax revenue! Same story when it came to smoking.

You are correct. The fees and licenses are $$$ with no guarantee of success. I can buy farm raised for about the same cost per pound as a license on the hoof and get it year round.
Oh, they get it. They’ll just start clamoring for fees from some other outdoor activities. I saw something last week about NY State selling access to the park system for — I kid you not — stargazing!
California is also lamenting a drop in income for the highway fund from gasoline sales. They correctly attribute this to electric vehicles & hybrids. California is busily looking at other taxation schemes.
