Hunting is slowly dying off in the same way that making your own clothes slowly died off. Buying rather than providing it yourself is both cheaper and easier. Both were reduced to “hobby” status in the 20th century.
When I was a kid, you could still buy clothing patterns and bolts of cloth at K-Mart and the like. My grandmother was quite a seamstress. Those days are long gone.
