Disagree. He doesn’t need to play to his base - we’re already going to vote for him. Sure, it’s great fun..and we can all laugh at it - because we mostly agree (ie: SleepyJoe).
HOWEVER - he needs to play to the undecideds, the Soccer Moms, and those “in the middle” who swung to (D) in the mid-terms. He needs those votes since there are plenty of states that we need that were very, very close in 2016, and acting like Biff from Back to the Future is not going to endear himself to the midwest Soccer Moms or similar demographics.
Like or not, he needs to act Presidential outside of the rallies. I’m not suggesting he let the opposition run rampant all over him, but the name-calling AT TIMES (eg: MiniMike) can make him look like a high school bully and not the President of the United States. He has plenty of GOOD things to talk about. Focusing on those would be prudent, IMHO.
“””””””Compared with what they have done to him? I think a few apt nicknames are nothing.””””””””””””””
No doubt he has the right to tear everyone of them in half.
But he needs to stay above it.
Thanks. That was great.
He is not a “stay above it” guy. He’s a fighter.
I think people jump on the nicknames for two reasons. Either they want to find something to dislike without having to argue seriously about policy and accomplishments, or it gives them one little thing to allow them to feel superior to the self-made billionaire, popular hero, and United States President.
It’s an ego thing.
The psychopathology of everyday life.
Trump gave a great interview.
Your going to hurt yourself clutching your wife’s pearls so tight.
Well said. The ‘act presidential’ mantra is the way the left tries to disarm their opponents. The rules of the game have been rigged in the Democrats favor for years. The MSM enforces an unfair playing field filled with skewed standards of fairness and rigged rules of debate.
Before Trump, millions of Americans had tuned out politics and avoided voting rather than listen to the kabuki theater of political debate that has been the norm in American politics. The ‘rules of debate’ were designed by the left to confuse the average voter and encourage him/her to give up on politics. Trump cuts through the Gordian not of false talking points by cutting to the chase. He engages the left on a direct, in your face level that they’re not able to counter, because when it comes down to it, most Americans agree with Trump.
Many voters wouldn’t have realized that they agree with him, and would never have become politically engaged if he engaged in ‘proper’ forms of debate.
He needs to stop doing it.
Trump is already on target to win an easy victory as is. Those who supported him last time will continue to do so. Many who didn’t have already become disgusted with the Dems and will vote for him this time. If the undecideds you speak of are really undecideds and not dyed in the wool Democrats, they will judge Trump on his results more than his ‘rhetoric’.
That's a reason a fellow volleyball teammate hates him with a passion.....
Bottom line is, it doesn't matter if Trump acts presidential or not (and who defines what is presidential? Liberals?) You think Liberals would give Jesus a break if He were president?
I could not care less about his "Presidential persona", all I care about is results........
And what about Trump?
He doesn't need to play to anyone. Trump is Trump and we've known exactly who he is for the past 3 years...
You either like him or you don't.....Sheesh!
Yep
Nope. It tags his opponent which seems to stick. If Trump didnt do it I would be surprised. Especially since he has been doing it for years and it poised the left off to no end.
Because all of them think they know better than Trump.
Just don’t post if you can’t say anything constructive, we’ve already got the democrats and the fake news media for that.
They are the usual trolls coming out of the closet.
Disagree. He doesnt need to play to his base - were already going to vote for him.
Who said anything about playing to his base?
Im just saying that President Trump is too smart to be duped into not fighting back; which is what this acting presidential ploy is all about.
Yes - that is what I was trying to say but you sad it better.
Politicians have always blown their own horns - but suddenly its uncool when Trump does it.
The Leftist fake news has always monopolized the media - but when President Trump figures out how to use Twitter to evade their PC police - thats unpresidential.
Give me a break.
