An attorney has to be authorized by the client to accept service (at least here in Missouri they do, and I suspect it’s that way everywhere).

Not in Texas. An attorney that refuses service on behalf of their client is subject to a filing to the state bar. At least that was the way it was a few years ago if I’m not mistaken. You can’t just dodge service just because you don’t want to get served.
