According to my mother, my kin settled in Philadelphia area because back in the day the Quakers considered it an act of Christian charity to act as a sponsor for an incoming immigrant. Basically to vouch for them so they could come in, though in this case they didn’t really know them. So they were a living loophole. But still, the rule was there.

The local Methodist Church sponsored some families from South Vietnam in the town where I lived in NC. They provided housing, English classes, and helped with employment.

Those were different times, when the US attracted the best and brightest from around the world (and they in turn made this country great). Today we are importing anyone who will simply fill the voids created by our shrinking population - in housing, public schools, and businesses (as customers in all three cases - let the taxpayers foot the bill).

Elites need populations to rule, and Americans haven’t been providing a next generation - so the Third World will.
