Tucker Carlson: Republicans shouldn't be surprised Bolton betrayed Trump. He's like a snake ...always has been
Fox News ^ | Jan 27 2020 | Tucker Carlson

Think back to 2016 and the campaign then. Donald Trump used to recite a poem about a woman who took a dying snake into her house and nursed it back to health. The snake did become healthy and then immediately whipped around and bit the woman.

As she breathed her last breath, the woman asked the snake, "Why did you do this?" "Well, because I'm a snake," was the reply. "That's what we do."

All of which somehow reminds us of disgraced former National Security Adviser John Bolton. Republicans in Washington might seem shocked to discover that Bolton has turned and betrayed his former boss, Donald Trump, but they shouldn't be shocked. That's who John Bolton is. That's who John Bolton has always been. That's what John Bolton does. And not to brag, but we called it long ago.

On Sunday, The New York Times reported that Bolton's new book contains sections designed to help the Democratic case for impeachment. Bolton accuses the president of delaying military aid to Ukraine in order to pressure its government into investigating Hunter Biden.

Again, people in Washington are stunned by this -- or claimed to be. If Bolton disliked Trump so much, they wonder, why did he join the administration?

Well, the answer is simple: Bolton wanted war with Iran. He's always wanted war with Iran. He's obsessed with it.

I don’t think he’s always been a snake. His press secretary is surprised by the book.

I think he fell out of favor with the DOD and Intel communities and has been closely watched.

From former CIA Jack Posobiec on Twitter:

Bolton had A LOT of people here fooled..and many here knew more about Politics than Businessman Trump knew.

I thought BOlton was a smarmy SOB...but I might be slightly swayed because he LOOKS like a smarmy SOB.

Seems John Bolton didn't have a balls to run for office himself (because he knew the people would reject him) so he 'appointed himself' adult in the room and looked down on a duly elected President. May Bolton rot in hell... along with the rest of the lowife crooks in DC.

Ever wonder why we're involved in horrible endless wars? That have nothing to do with our safety? Or why our trade deals favor EVERY OTHER COUNTRY but outs? It's because these 'adults in the room' are selling our our country and they're selling the arms and legs and blood of our young... for cushy jobs in defense companies, 'speaker's fees, and book deals that are little more than bribes.

I think one thing a lot of us liked about him was he seemed to be a proponent of getting things done, calling a spade a spade, and taking action.

His position on Iran, for example, though not as good as Trump’s, was a far sight better than Obama’s.

Why would Bolton devote a good part of his book to something so insignificant as military aid to Ukraine?

If Trump knew, why did he appoint him?

If the allegation is true, it probably would have been at a meeting with other witnesses.

Trump appointments show that he values a diversity of ideas, not “yes men”. He didn’t think Bolton was a snake before he took him in.

I'm still holding out for my suggested scenario, what if what really happened is that President Trump asked Bolton "What would happen if I conditioned the release of aid on a promise by Ukraine to investigate corruption," and Bolton (or his ghost-writer) hyperbolized that (for dramatic effect) in his book by saying that Trump "wanted" to condition release of the aid, but that Bolton talked Trump out of it?

I didn’t say Trump knew. He relied on people to give him recommendations.

And I clearly said that many HERE were fooled and many HERE knew more about politics in many areas than what Businessman Trump knew.

President Zelensky

“We are ready to continue to cooperate for the next of defense steps. Specifically we are almost ready to buy more Javelins from the United States for defense purposes.”

Trump:

“I would like you to do us a favor though because our country has been through a lot and Ukraine knows a lot about it.

“I would like you to find out what happened with this whole situation with Ukraine, they say Crowdstrike.

“I guess you have one of your wealthy people. The server, they say Ukraine has it.”

Obviously, only an investigation by a foreign government could get to the truth.

“I would like you to get to the bottom of it. As you said yesterday, that whole nonsense ended with a very poor performance by a man named Robert Mueller, an incompetent performance, but they say a lot of it started with Ukraine. Whatever you can do, it’s very important that you do it if that’s possible.”

Trump wanted “to get to the bottom of it”. Trump was targeting unknown masterminds, not the greedy Biden son or his father.

Obviously yet again, requesting foreign government investigative help was appropriate.

“I heard you had a prosecutor who was very good and he was shut down and that’s really unfair. A lot of people are talking about that, the way they shut your very good prosecutor down and you had some very bad people involved.”

“The other thing, there’s a lot of talk about Biden’s son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great.”

“Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it. It sounds horrible to me.”

And it sounds horrible to me too.
