I don’t think so. Cops know they are disliked by many and hated by some. They accept that as part of the job. For many police officers, the job is a calling to protect people. Every time there is a story about a cop doing something bad, people act as if this means all cops are bad. Nothing could be further from the truth. In case you haven’t guessed, someone near and dear to me is in law enforcement. I’m just happy is no longer a street cop wearing a uniform that would make him a target.

I doubt many cops are willing to put up with being disliked by many and hated by some of the people who are supposed to have their backs, namely their superiors and the DA. The cops in New York hate their mayor and say so publicly. The cops in Baltimore refuse to chase criminals any more. They just stand around and collect a paycheck, unwilling to put their lives on the line for people who disrespect them. If your relative is a San Francisco cop and puts up with treatment like what the DA is doing he or she may need an intervention by people near and dear to them.
